Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski
5.0
An excellent read. Even though this is technically the first official book in the series it is so much better to have read the short stories first! I could not be happier with all of the little callbacks to the short stories. It added so much depth to everything going on in the story.
*Show comparisons incoming*
Blood of Elves seems to be the primary influence for season 2 of the show - though clearly not followed to the T. I enjoyed the plot of the book just as much (if not more) than the show. The way Geralt and Yennefer interact with Ciri on their own is so interesting.
There were so many scenes where I audibly laughed because of how it is written. It is a unique balance of witty dialogue, interesting side characters, and callbacks that just get me! And I never usually laugh aloud at books or TV shows.
Honestly, no notes. This writing style may not be for everyone but I am throughly enjoying it!
