The Wheel of the Year: An Illustrated Guide to Nature's Rhythms by Fiona Cook

hopeful informative inspiring lighthearted mysterious fast-paced

4.5

Upon reading this book it's very clear that the intended audience is children, when the book itself is not marketed that way. The constant reminders to 'ask my adult for permission' continuously took me out of the flow of reading, which is a shame, but near the end of the book it also kind of made me giggle. Besides that, I really enjoyed the book. I found it informative, with great recipes and rituals I'm so excited to try out and I definitely see myself reaching for this book the next time one of the holidays comes around. I found it incredibly beautiful and refreshing and important that the book has a great focus on explaining the history and origin behind a lot of the different practices and very clearly speaks out against cultural appropriation. That combined with the breathtaking illustrations from Jessica Roux makes it a near perfect 4,5 stars from me!
