And today we are looking at another one of my library's recent acquisition, namely The Unquotable Trump by Robert Sikoryak published by Drawn and Quarterly. While I have not actually read of his other works, they are apparently the person behind Masterpiece Comics - one of those books I often see but not actually read yet.
Picking this book up from the library I actually had no idea what to expect. To say that I was pleasantly surprised would be a little bit of an understatement, because while this book can simply be described as a collection of altered covers there is more to it then that.
Reading through the i09 interview with Robert Sikoryak he apparently did think pretty hard about putting this series of images together. Not only putting the quotes in chronological order but also trying to put them into a narrative.
Personally, I also felt like Sikoryak avoided many of the common pitfalls of negative humor that have become glaringly obvious to me in the past few years. Rather than feeding into the obvious ableism and fatphobia or further stigmatizing mental health issues. At least as far as I can tell. Feel free to comment if you saw something that I missed and you will certainly not hear the end of it if I find anything I need to share with you.
