I've been meaning to start this series for a while, and a friend recommended starting it because it's becoming a series now. This first book didn't do it for me. I didn't like the characters, or the portrayal of women as petty and flighty, and the plot was stale. I'll give the next book a try, though. I think my friend mislead me on where to start the series and I should have started with actual book 1 and not this prequel.

I couldn't help imagining a version where the legendary boy born on the mountain wasn't a baby born, but a trans boy becoming himself.

๐Ÿ“˜The Gist ๐Ÿ“˜: Two women in a revered magic order of women hunt for a foretold baby boy who would be the dragon reborn.

๐Ÿ“’Representation๐Ÿ“’: strong female protagonist

๐Ÿ’• For readers looking for ๐Ÿ’•: fantasy, books with movie adaptations, chosen one trope, strong female protagonists, political intrigue, assassins
