"She sighed happily. In moments like this, she really and truly loved being a witch. She loved losing herself for hours in the hum of magic, the sparkle of gold dust in the air, the soft warmth of witchfire, the ideas and the creativity and the fun. Why would anyone ever want to do anything else?"

This is a wonderfully warm and affectionate tale of identity and belonging told through the eyes of modern day witch, Mika Moon. Kept apart from other witches for fear of being discovered, Asian-British Mika is lonely, but finds a home at Nowhere House, teaching three child witches how to control their magic abilities. Mika is sparky and easy to relate to and the cast of endearing, supporting characters, a handsome, scowling librarian, two elderly gay men (the gardener and the cook) and a motherly housekeeper, combine with the coastal Norfolk setting to create the perfect world. There's Mika's witchy spells and teas, humour, a slow-burning romance, the journey to a found-family and a wrong to be righted, which add up to an uplifting, fantasy rom-com.
