The King's General by Daphne du Maurier

2.0

I think I might be the minority here, but I hated this book. I kept reading just because I was so close to being finished with it. Some people say this is even better than Rebecca and My Cousin Rachel. What? Richard Grenville left for the war, came back, left again, came back, only to leave one more time. Never saw that coming. What kind of High School Musical bulls*** is this?

Honor was a very average character, it didn't seem like she had that much of a personality, and her love interest was even worse. It seemed like Daphne du Maurier was trying to get the reader to care about the relationship between Honor and Richard, I just didn't. Also, if you don't know anything about the English Civil War, do yourself a favor and do some research before going in, that is if you want to read it. I had no clue what was going on politically the whole novel. I thought that The House on the Strand would be the worst du Maurier novel, but this was so much worse.
