Good Intentions by Brenda K. Davies

3.0

A good start to the series. But this book is definitely not a standalone. You have to be prepared to be in this for the long haul. I do appreciate a good fated mates story. And this one takes a little bit further by adding in the “Romeo/Juliet-esque they’re not supposed to be together” element. Basically in the story, our heroine River discovers that she is a descendent of Satan. The devil. Lucifer. And she ends up with this group of soldiers made up of humans and demons who are trying to take Satan down. This is a lot for her, as you can imagine. But even more shocking is finding out that she is the key to defeating Satan and helping Kobal regain his throne in Hell. But when River and Kobal fall for each other, things get complicated. And River wonders if staying with him will turn her into the true evil that Lucifer is. Or if it would make Kobal weak against Lucifer or any of their other enemies.

This first book did a really good job building this post apocalyptic world they are now living in. It lets us know what at stake as well as also developing the relationship between River and Kobal. With three more books, there’s still a long road ahead of us.
