A Very Merry Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams
4.0
Reverse grumpy/sunshine trope? Check
Opposites attract? Check
Found family? Check
If you like any or all of these romance tropes, A Very Merry Bromance may be for you! Admittedly, I have only read the first book in this series, but I picked this up as an audiobook thanks for Penguin Random House Audio and didn't feel lost or confused. All the bros are back along with some new women who I didn't quite know but met quickly.
Colton, a country music superstar, is featured in this fifth installment of the Bromance series. He spent one night a year ago following Mac's wedding with Gretchen and has been pining for her since she walked out of their room with little more than a goodbye. What Colton doesn't know is that Gretchen has severe intimacy and trust issues, thanks to an entirely dysfunctional family background. Oh, and that family is one of the top whiskey makers and distributors in the country.
I loved that in this grumpy/sunshine trope, it's the man who's the sunshine and the woman who's the grump. When Colton and Gretchen reconnect because the whiskey company wants Colton to be the new face of their upcoming ad campaign, sparks fly, and Colton is determined to show Gretchen everything great about Christmas - and love. As the story tackles some important issues of childhood trauma, the bromance dudes and their wives fill in as found family with warmth and compassion.
There seemed to be a few loose ends at the conclusion of the story revolving around Jack and Evan and the mysterious document. And I especially wanted to know what happened in the book-within-the-book Colton had Gretchen read. Otherwise, it's a great holiday read and fitting conclusion to the Bromance series.
