The writing felt choppy at times and it was distracting. Also it seems as if the author has a but of internalized fat phobia. It’s not a great representation of having a curvy or plus size leading lady when she constantly self-deprecates herself for over eating. If she stopped doing that once she saw how much her mate loves her body it would have been at least a bit better. The ramp up of the plot at the end of the book was a bit ridiculous. From being emotionally abusive to burning down her house and cafe? The ex-husband was clearly nuts. The fact she conventionally died and was miraculously saved just so she wasn’t stuck with a death oath with her mom? Felt so convenient. Oh and did her father truly love her if he let her mother emotionally abuse her her entire life? The father not not noticing his daughter is dyslexic and helping her is ridiculous. I thought it was cute that Anubis are also dyslexic and she eventually learned how to work with her dyslexia, but I feel like this book is a bit triggering to be good rep. At least the spicy scenes were great
Graphic: Body shaming and Fatphobia
Moderate: Gun violence and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Death of parent
