Saga, Vol. 2 by Brian K. Vaughan

5.0

Vulgar, sexual, violent, disgusting, poignant, beautiful and just plain weird. I'd be hard pressed to describe Saga, as anything but amazing, though to be more specific it reminds me of Joss Whedon's Firefly meets Dr. Who meets Repo the Genetic Opera.

Hands down the best comic series I've ever read. The graphics are gorgeous but more importantly, the story is like falling down the rabbit hole in space. Interwoven character plot lines, multiple languages, an epic war, one of the most natural and realistic love stories I've ever read. My favorite part may be the narrator though, to be honest. The fugitive couple's recently born child, Hazel, narrates the book from the future dropping hints of how things turned out, and leaving funny remarks along the way that just tie everything together so well.

I cannot recommend this more highly. If you love graphic novels, you've probably heard about this already, but if you've never seen the point or been enticed by Marvel or manga, then give this a whirl. You won't be disappointed.
