This book was nothing I expected it to be based on the summary. The story follows a dysfunctional family and the all the mustaches that come with that dysfunction. The mother is a hoarder with a very eccentric view of the world. When the youngest boy of the family dies, we see her family struggle to deal with her laissez-faire approach to coping. This book was a slow burn-I cannot emphasize SLOW enough. The majority of the book character development, which I can appreciate, but it was overwhelming long. I often found myself wondering when the story would pick up. I had to set the this one aside a few times to read other books and came back to it later to get a break for the length. Even when I got to 90% complete, I was waiting for the twist or revelation. Karina Fernandez, the narrator, did a really good job. Her tone was even and smooth. She was very easy to listen to-it’s one of the things that kept me going with the book.
