The Road to San Giovanni by Italo Calvino

4.0

Calvino delightfully presents what seem like rough memory sketches. The hints he leaves about drafts left in the trash, though suggest that his essays went through many iterations. Calvino captures the impressionistic, spiral, and tangential qualities of memories and our reflective thoughts of them. The chapter "A Cinema-Goer's Autobiography" nicely complements "Cinema Paradiso".
