Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armfield

3.5

This book dragged me down into the sea with the plotline. My hopes for a satisfying revelation at the end dwindled with every page, but I still kept reading. Suffice to say that was hopeless. The premise was promising, yet
the protagonist's girlfriend being turned into a sea creature after a deep-sea mission gone wrong without any additional explanation - besides ominious signs such as the smell of burnt flesh as well as whale-like sounds and a creepy voice that couldn't be understood - well, that just didn't do the trick for me. I always felt the plot was going somewhere, but the author hadn't known where exactly too.
