i rarely/never do book reviews, but it feels blatantly disrespectful to not say anything after reading this book. im gonna start by saying: i’m white. i have the privilege of not being familiar with any of the circumstances or situations brought up in this book, and i’m fortunate enough to not have to go through the emotions any of the characters, or any black person in real life, has had to go through because of racial injustice. this book is a real fucking eye opener for anyone who reads this, whether they’re white, asian, black, or from a different ethnic group, of the issues, which are very much real and continuing to happen, being presented. it’s powerful, it’s agitating to say the least (the injustice, to clarify), and it’s really fucking emotional. what’s even worse is this book gives a glimpse of the authors actual life, which is stated in the authors note. to anyone who’s had to deal with racial injustice, police brutality and blatant abuse due to your race, i’m so fucking sorry
