Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb

5.0

What an absolute treasure this series is. Hobb's writing is unique in a way that I can't quite put my finger on, yet which is truly refreshing. It is fascinating to me how much GRRM, Rothfuss, Lawrence, and others of my favorite fantasy authors were clearly inspired by the rich fantasy set down in this unassuming trilogy.

I said in my last review that part of me wishes Fitz was a girl - and I still think that would be an improvement overall - but I was glad to see Hobb playing a little with cishet norms through the Fool, and I'd love to see that expanded upon in her later books.
