The Unforgettable Logan Foster by Shawn Peters
5.0
Add me to the legions who have fallen in love with Logan Foster. Shawn Peters has crafted this novel with such consummate skill that it feels organic and eternal: a great story well told — and featuring delightful, richly-drawn characters.
We enjoy the ride from Logan’s point of view, and it’s a joy from the start, opening with an intriguing premise (which I won’t reveal). Logan’s voice is unique and endearing, and the story is action-packed, laced with seismic surprises and funny asides.
And I do mean funny: The Unforgettable Logan Foster serves up many laugh-out-loud moments that manage to be familiar yet fresh. (One such passage includes a nod to author Annie Jacobs.)
Peters balances the humor with well-earned poignancy. I read this book to see if it might be something my 12-year-old great nephew might like, particularly since he lost his mom to cancer two years ago. I came away believing that he’ll empathize with Logan and may well feel a deep sense of connection thanks to the author’s smart and sensitive handling of the tougher cards that life can deal.
I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and have to wonder when Logan and friends will be on our screens. (Very soon, I hope.)
Highly recommended!
