This was hands down the best book I've read so far this year. I wish I could binge this entire series, but alas, I have to wait. Evan Winter, man...when's Book 3 coming out?

From the world-building, to the characters, to the magic system, this was an extremely well-rounded first book. Every element had plenty of detail without bogging down the plot, which is a testament to how damn good of a writer my name twin is. This was revenge plot done in the best way possible encompassing such an ambitiously imaginative fantasy story. I can't wait to dive into Book 2.

Tau, while borderline psychotic at times, was perfectly complex, imperfect, and intriguing. His stubbornness would occasionally get a bit much, but he more than made up for it with this deeply ingrained desire for justice in his unjust society. His relationship with one of the other characters was endearing, but the dynamic with his "sword brothers" was my favorite part by far. I love these characters so much.

If you've been putting this off for whatever reason, please stop doing that. Just pick it up, read it, and thank me later!
