I liked it. Elements of the story are new and fresh. I didn’t expect the ending. Alex really does change a lot over the course of the story.

My Review of The British Knight by Louise Bay
Let's Talk About the Girl...
Violet has been hurt, badly. That betrayal has left her in a kind of half-life. Years later, she works as a waitress going nowhere. Temporary is key in her life. Temp work. Temp men. Until she decides to go to London and change up her life.

She takes a job as an office clerk at a law office.
It’s temporary, but she is okay with that. By the end of her 3-month contract, she hopes to find something that’s been lost to her for a long time, herself.

Let's Talk About the Guy...
Alex is a workaholic. He has his father’s reputation to compete with. His goals are brutal. He refuses to be distracted by anything else. Nothing else matters but living up to his great father’s reputation. Everyone talks about it. Everyone knows about it. He does everything himself. So what if files pile like skyscrapers in a cityscape around his office? So what if he hasn’t sent his billable hours to the accounting department in months? He has work to do.

Let's Talk about the Story...
Violet’s job is Alex–or more realistically, getting Alex to let her do things. She likes him, but Alex is prickly and gruff. She pops in, steals files and hopes to stay out of his way. Alex has made it clear, she is not wanted in his life. He is too busy to deal with his attraction to this woman that smells like lavender and reminds him of his summer in India.

As the weeks pass, files disappear, billing gets updated, and their attraction grows. One day a fling is ignited and they begin to spend more and more time together. Violet begins to show him how to relax. He doesn’t let his fling with Violet keep him from work, but he does take more time to get to know her and spend time with her.

But this fling can’t last, Violet’s contract work in up soon and she has to decide what to do next. As Alex starts to fall for her, he thinks he understands what his job and extreme tendencies are worth, but he has no clue…not until he loses Violet.
