Ok I’m going to go into specifics and would prefer not to tag to spoilers each time so BIG SPOILER WARNING!!

To start off, I didn’t hate the book but I didn’t necessarily love it either. The first book was incredible and this one just did not live up to that one. This was a complaint I had with the first book but I just don’t like how the side characters aren’t explored as much. We catch only glimpses of their personalities but only through the main characters perspective. At first I didn’t like that once Kazi and Jase finally got together they were separated within the first chapters. This sort of grew on me with the flashbacks to their journey home but the reunion was very anticlimactic in my opinion. I wish there had been more romance after everything was concluded but it was very lacking. I also very much didn’t like the ending. With all these characters coming back in, some that are being introduced for maybe the first or second time in the entire duology, and just the quickness of it was just a bit of a let down. Like I had no idea who Berdi was I’m sorry.

Now, all that being said, I still really liked the book. It was much more action packed then the first one. I love the affection and love that Kazi and Jase now have for each other. The reveal of them being married made me giddy lol. I also really loved how the author wrote Monteque. Oh my gosh his character was done so well. The way he was depicted upon first meeting him and then watching his sadistic nature come to light was amazing. Also the specific part where Kazi is getting ready and the ghosts warn her about Zane at the door gave me chills. I don’t know what it was about it but it was just really well written. There are many things I loved about this book, it was still good and I do think some of the hate is unwarranted.

Oh wow this was long, anyways, I think this is a good conclusion to the series. I wish I had read the remnant series before hand but I got off well without. I didn’t like the whole stardust crow thing, it was a bit too open ended for me but if we get a spin off from it then it’ll make it worth it.
