Ricki Wilde considers herself to be the black sheep of the family.  She doesn’t fit in; she doesn’t want to work at the family funeral home.  She has another passion (to open a flower shop) and this daddy’s girl has to prove that to him and the rest of the family.

When an opportunity arises, Ricki takes the chance.  Ricki moves to Harlem to start her business and while doing so, she meets a handsome stranger.

A Love Song For Ricki Wilde is “set against the backdrop of modern Harlem and Renaissance glamour.”

I am new to Historical fiction however Tia Williams wrote this book so skillfully that I enjoyed the continuously smooth transitioned between the present day and the past. I actually enjoyed reading about the past more.

The story of this handsome stronger is an unforgettable one as they navigates love in the present day. I don’t want you guys thinking that this is a typical love story because it’s not; it’s about:
♥️ friendship - Tuesday & Ricki
♥️ strong bond - Della & Ricki
♥️ forgiveness - Ricki & her family
♥️ a leap year & love - Rickie & a beautiful stranger
♥️ changes over the years
♥️ living life and experiencing that deep love
♥️ mental wellness
♥️ sacrifice

Another reason I enjoyed this book is that I buddy read it with a group of persons. This buddy read was organized by @dangelomreid in StoryGraph. D’Angelo had Chapter check-ins throughout the book and we had an amazing discussion.

I also joined D’Angelo and Ashli on an IG Love for an amazing discussion on this book - go check it out this post on D’angelos’s page.
