Middlemarch by George Eliot

5.0

What an accomplishment to finally read this book I’ve owned almost 20 years, schlepped across the country and from house to house in many moves. But I’m so glad I kept it all these years, as I suspected I would be. What a masterpiece. Such mastery of language. Literary devices that would be right at home in contemporary storytelling. Compelling characters. Deep insights into relationships, love, human nature. There are many reasons this book is so highly regarded and I’m glad to have finally experienced it.
