I really enjoy Elsie Silver's Chestnut Springs series, especially since I'm a huge fan of cozy small-town romances. This series has even more spice than some of my other reads, which is definitely a plus.

While the writing might not be perfect, the chemistry between Cade and Willa was off the charts—I was immediately invested in their story. I absolutely loved their little family and the way Willa instantly bonded with Luke. Surprisingly, the scenes between Willa and Luke turned out to be some of my favorites, which I didn’t expect going into a romance novel.

It was clear early on that Willa wanted more children, and while I initially thought her pregnancy would be revealed in the epilogue, I didn’t expect it to become a conflict within the story. Given Cade’s past, I was worried about how this would play out, but thankfully, I thought it was handled pretty well.

The character of Thalia was a very one-dimensional villain, and I would have liked to see some more nuanced writing there. However, she didn’t appear often enough to detract too much from the story for me. I devoured this book quickly and enjoyed it even more than the first. I’m excited to continue reading the rest of the series.
