The Island by Adrian McKinty

3.0

Fast-paced and enjoyable thriller about a family traveling in Australia, for both work and pleasure. The kids are rather bratty in the beginning and demand to see koalas and kangaroos. The family ends up on an island at the invitation of two men, who claim the kids can see plenty of the animals they want to see. Unfortunately, things do not go well and a terrible accident occurs, in which the islanders blame the family and plot revenge in a horrific plan.

This is the second novel I have read by this author, and while I enjoy his stories, his writing is somewhat cheesy and non-cohesive. Some of the dialogue between characters made no sense or was just plain silly. They are planning a series on Hulu based on this book, and I will be watching. Satisfying ending to the book as well.
