These Two Wrongs by Julia Wolf

4.0

These Two Wrongs is the second book in the Savage Academy series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Rhys and Delilah do not like each other when they first meet. Okay, they actually met before (in the first book), but I’m going with their first interaction in this book. Rhys sees Delilah in a vulnerable moment, and he just can’t help himself from commenting. Of course, Delilah isn’t just going to take his a**hole attitude, so she kind of tells him off.

Anyway, they don’t particularly like each other. Delilah doesn’t like Rhys because he’s not very nice, and he doesn’t even know her name. He is constantly calling her different names that start with “D”, and it’s truly because he doesn’t remember her name. Rhys, for his part, isn’t really an a**hole. He’s just uncaring and pretty closed off and doesn’t share much about himself with anyone, not even his friends.

I thought I wouldn’t like Rhys, but man was I wrong. He wasn’t uncaring, he just didn’t really know how to show his emotions. He was also a little insecure – and how often do we see male characters showing their insecurity? It was cute that he had a “geeky” side. And he never lied. He was a little blunt (in the beginning), but he always said what he thought.

When Rhys fell for Delilah, everything changed. He was more open and vulnerable. He let her see all the parts of him, even the damaged parts (because of his POS “parents”). I felt so bad for everything Rhys had gone through and still had to go through. Really, he had the biggest heart, and he was actually so sweet. He was caring, because he also looked out for Delilah’s sister. And he was also extremely protective.

Delilah was strong, and I loved how she always looked out for her sister. She refused to let anyone hurt her or take advantage of her, and she always comforted her when she needed it. But she also had insecurities. And my heart broke when she started expressing how much she hated parts of herself, and that Rhys’s actions only proved why she should hate them. She really made Rhys grovel for forgiveness.

The grovel from Rhys was perfect. He knew how badly he hurt her (unintentionally), and he pulled out all the stops to get her to give him a third chance. She refused and refused, but he did not give up. He stood up for her, had others stand up for her, looked out for her, and never gave up on her. Rhys even publicly announced things about himself, which was HUGE because he hated anyone knowing certain things about him, all to get attention off Delilah. He really was an amazing guy.

This book had the perfect amount of angst. It’s high school, and Julia definitely captured that high school angst. I loved the banter between Rhys and Delilah. They were similar and truly understood each other. There was a lot of heartache, but a lot of healing as well. This was another great book by Julia Wolf, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
