A fascinating historical account of the golden age of piracy. I’m mostly familiar with the more fantastical fictional accounts of pirates, so it was interesting to learn about real pirate captains like Blackbeard, Charles Vane, Stede Bonnet, Calico Jack, and Anne Bonny. The book also does an excellent job of explaining the political climate in the time of piracy and the reasons that so many of the young men of this time period turned to piracy. I don’t read much nonfiction, and I was worried I would get bored, but it kept my attention throughout the book. I’d definitely recommend it!
