I started off reading this book whilst sitting in a hospital waiting room which was probably not the best choice given the levels of existential dread and medical anxiety Gilda experiences literally ALL THE TIME.
There were moments where Gilda’s actions left me confused, shocked, embarrassed but mostly sad for her. This book surprised me tbh; from the opening chapters I thought it would very much send me into a spiral (maybe don’t read it in a hospital), but despite how heavy the themes were, some of Gilda’s musings about life and death ended up being really poignant and there were multiple plot twists I didn’t see coming. Worth reading if you can get past all the trigger warnings!

Graphic: Animal death, Car accident, Medical content, Panic attacks/disorders, Self harm, Suicidal thoughts, Murder, Alcoholism, and Death
Moderate: Religious bigotry, Grief, Injury/Injury detail, and Vomit
