Furysong by Rosaria Munda

5.0

This entire trilogy is superb. Every book is gripping, emotional, and thought provoking, and stays with you long after you read it.

I read Furysong in one sitting, staying awake late into the night to finish it. The first three quarters of the book I would say are even stronger than the first two books in the series (which is quite a feat). Unfortunately the ending did slightly let it down for me, not in substance (each plot element of character arc was resolved in an appropriate way), but in execution as it felt somewhat rushed. This isn't a major issue though, I just feel the book could have been even better with a longer page count.

This third book seemed to me more mature than the previous installments. The trilogy is marketed as YA, and while it generally avoids the more stereotypical YA tropes and styles, it does feel like a good fit for that age group - albeit with themes and discussions which give it significant crossover appeal for adults. This book however felt to me much more adult in nature, with the characters having grown and changed from everything they had been through, and more complexities and maturity in the plot.

I am very keen to see what Rosaria Munda writes next.
