i truly enjoyed this book solely for the fact that it was so blatantly so satirical it was hilarious. i also a lot of poor reviews based on the endings, but felt that the ending was supposed to make fun of the ‘happily ever after’ trope in stories that loose ends with little explanation SPOILERS (i.e. the wedding, the dramatic emphasis on time waiting, to then find they had only known each other a year). i really liked this book and also its forecasting of Jane Eyre’s estranged supposedly dead wife being hidden away by husband trope.
