I adored this second installment, there are absolutely no words. This sequel was an emotional whirlwind and thrilling page turner. The use of multiple perspectives is one of my favorites with being able to see each of the character's innermost emotions and thoughts was what really attached me to them. Tessa's character growth is so satisfying to see with her finally opening up her mind out of the Victorian era ideals on women. Will, wow seeing his backstory and broken past I was able to truly feel for him in this book but his consistent wit never fails to not make me laugh. Jem, my beloved, don't know how it's possible that i love him even more, he really is just the purest soul ever especially having to do with his short time yet shows particular emotions when in the necessary situations. His constant perseverance and outlook always captivates my attention. I was genuinely shocked by the plot twists and reveals in this one, since I really thought I knew majority of the spoilers for this trilogy. Sophie my best girl, she's so strong inside and out and her ability to see people so clearly. I'm very intrigued to see more of her dynamic with Gideon, they make me so giddy. Jessamine, I'm so disappointed, going into tid I thought I was gonna like her character, boy was I wrong. It just makes me sad to see where her story goes especially in this one, how gullible she is and truly not as smart as I thought she would be and how she falls into the ungrateful brat archetype. It's heartbreaking as I do empathize with her just a bit at the end with how she gambled so much and lost it all and with her outlook of never wanting in on the shadowhunter life, I just mourn the lost potential character arc she could've had instead of the one she got in this storyline. Charlotte, I love how she stands her ground in this one and continues to prove that she is beyond capable of her head position and I'm so glad her and Henry talked things out. Their particular scene was very much satisfying to my romantic heart. And Magnus! His perspectives are so interesting with his takes on how he sees each of the characters and ability of root out their deepest feelings. His insight always a delight to see, I hope to learn much more about him. All the characters have such quick wit, banter and comebacks that always come at random or the best times that make me laugh out loud all very amusingly entertaining. I'm so excited to go onto Clockwork Princess and then Chain of Gold down the line after a number of tsc books.
