The Best Laid plans is a novella and sets the stage for Charming Artemis that comes out this fall! It was so fun to meet new characters like Newton, Ellie, and Rose and see more of characters I already know and love! I also loved the unique setting of Bath! It was fresh and different from London and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This book has so many powerful quotes and I loved seeing these characters support, encourage, and empower each other. Both Ellie and Newton come from families that are not as loving and supportive they should be. But luckily for them they have good friends like Charlie and Artemis who help their friends learn to advocate for themselves. This book is much more than a great story, it’s an example of how to not let people belittle you and how to boldly but kindly remove yourself from toxic relationships.
Artemis teaches Ellie to “retreat, wield your shield, or return fire” which essentially is three different ways to respond to social attacks. I loved seeing Ellie’s confidence grow as she learns to use these tactics to advocate for herself.
If you’re a Sarah M. Eden fan or a lover of regency romances you should this read book!! I loved it and hope you will too!
