Before We Say Goodbye by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

5.0

As always, this book brings me to tears with its stories. Although it’s all fantasy when revisiting the past, each chapter evokes a different rollercoaster of emotions. Honestly, I was deeply moved by the 'The Daughter' chapter. One thing we could take from this book that we can’t change the present but we can let go of regrets, it’s easing our burdens in life.

Oh anyway, let me highlight each chapter:
- 'The Husband': Portrays the struggle of balancing career idealism with fatherhood, emphasizing the importance of expressing love and regrets towards his wife.
- 'The Farewell': Explores the bittersweet love between a person and their pet, teaching us to cherish moments and accept the natural cycle of life.
- 'The Proposal': Reveals the consequences of hiding illness from loved ones, and it’s better to tell harsh truth instead of white lies.
- 'The Daughter': Telling the importance of kindness and understanding in parent-child relationships, urging us to express our feelings before it’s too late to reconcile.

The book emphasizes the significance of confronting truths and expressing love and regret before it’s too late.
