I didn’t love this book. i think it was well written but the pace of the romance kind of drove me crazy. i love a slow burn but it felt like there was barely any angst or longing because too much was happening in the plot to focus that much on the romance. i think this book would’ve benefitted greatly by an additional 100 pages or by making the romance the main plot point since it felt like it was secondary. the misgendering of the love interest in the first half of the book really irked me. i understand they hadn’t come out to the main character yet, but i didn’t enjoy reading 150 pages misgendering a non-binary person. i think the author could’ve tweaked things so easily to make that not happen. all they had to do is have ray tell simone their pronouns right away or just slightly later than first meeting as a sign that they trust simone.
