The Boy in the Smoke, by Maureen Johnson

4.0

... I finally got to finish this book today and I have been waiting years to do so. I really enjoyed getting another main characters back story, especially Stephen (Dream-boat) Dene.
Getting Stephen's back story was definitely an important part of this series in my opinion, yes, throughout each book you get a small inkling but this prequel offers you a little more depth about why he is the way that he is. This story will make you cry an ocean full of tears because if you've ever lost someone close to you, you'd understand all the thoughts and feelings that make Stephen.
I gave the book a four because I feel like this could have been a really great story. The book felt rushed but then again how do you fit a lot into 86 pages? It really left me wanting more. I still highly suggest this if you are about to start the Shades of London Series, and if you're not, then you can still read this because it's still good.
