Strange Folk was an interesting novel. I enjoyed the pointed look at life in the Appalachian mountains both the good and the bad. I also liked the way addiction was represented by showing how systemic it is
The main plot of this novel, the magic and murder, I found went in circles and was too long. I’m not sure if there was too much exposition that then made the ending drag on, but it felt like the novel could have ended three times and then…didn’t. I didn’t hate it. Didn’t love it.
Thank you to Atria Books, NetGalley, and Alli Dyer for the advanced readers digital copy in exchange for my review.
