The Mischief of the Mistletoe by Lauren Willig
3.0
Since I read [b:The Masque of the Black Tulip|397844|The Masque of the Black Tulip (Pink Carnation, #2)|Lauren Willig|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1389660134s/397844.jpg|2584] two weeks ago, I've read 3 more novels, 1 novella and 1 short in the Pink Carnation series. I think I'm addicted!
I'm finding it hard to decide what to say about this installment. I liked it, but didn't love it. Turnip has made appearances in other books and he always seemed to be a bit of comic relief, so naturally his love story is a bit more ridiculous than the previous novels - though it was very sweet. In fact, I felt like it was a bit reminiscent of Gail Carriger (The Parasol Protecorate, etc) in it's randomness. Spies passing notes using Christmas Puddings?
Being that Turnip isn't part of the inner circle of the Pink Carnation, this book had more of the romance plot and less of the spy plot. There was no hard boiled French spy in this one, just some selfish characters.
Definitely not my favorite, but on to the next none the less! :)
