One with You by Sylvia Day

5.0

I started the Crossfire series in October and finished it yesterday, taking a break only to read Archangel's Heart by Nalini Singh (one of the most anticipated books of my reading year) Anyway, I absolutely love this series. I know it pops up in a recommendations for people who liked the Fifty Shades series but that's actually one of the reasons I stayed away from it for so long. And it doesn't have the same feel of Fifty Shades. Gideon and Eva's relationship is far more romantic, intimate. They are a sweet couple, so similar but with flaws that make you genuinely hurt for them. At no point did I think, "Oh My God, this guy is so creepy..." (as I did when reading some of the stuff Christian did to Anna)

Anyway now that I've read it, I want to slap myself for waiting so long to do so. The upside, is that I got to read the series from beginning to end without the agony of waiting for the next book to be released. As I understand it, One With You is the last Gideon and Eva book and I'm okay with that. Almost the entire time I was reading this book, I kept thinking how far Gideon and Eva have come. To older readers of the series, it may have even seemed like this was a completely different couple they were reading about. But if you re-read the series, you'll be pleasantly surprised by how smoothly the transition in Gideon and Eva's relationship takes place.

Bottom line: Gideon and Eva are one of my favourite romantic pairings ever!

There are a few things that I think were handled poorly in this book, but that has more to do with the secondary characters. As for Gideon and Eva, I'm quite satisfied with how their story ends, so I'll happily leave it at that.
