This book seems perfectly placed as a third installment in the GearShark series. After two books following Trent and Drew (4ever!), Jace Lorhaven is here to let you know he's his own man and he will not be ignored. Yes, his name is Jace and yes, that in and of itself is ridiculously attractive.
If you, like me, were unsure about Lorhaven because he initially comes off as a villain, don't be scared. He has his own book -- which means there are things you don't know about him. So buckle up for the ride!
At first, Joey and Lorhaven are at each other's throats. She's a woman in a male-dominated sport, and beyond that, she's trying to merge into the new indie racing division. Lorhaven, who's trying to become the best indie driver on the track, says Joey doesn't belong. But even though these two start off like fire and gasoline -- oh they flames they create are amazing!
Both of these characters are so compelling. Joey is a strong, capable woman who isn't afraid to put herself out there and meet the challenges in front of her. Jace is confident and protective, but he's also incredibly understanding and a great listener. One of my favorite parts of this book (in addition to the spice, of course) is their first date where they're just talking. It's so sweet and meaningful.
Once secrets start to come to light about what Joey has been hiding -- the plot thickens. I promise you will be turning page after page to find out how it all ends!
