The Selection by Kiera Cass

I remember reading this when I was younger and LOVING IT...so I gave it another go. It’s been sitting on my shelves for years, after all.
My taste has definitely changed. And my appreciation for depth has also increased. I can understand why 16 year old me adored it...but, alas, ten years later - it’s time to move forward. Growth, maturation...whatever you want to blame, this book just wasn’t for Current-Me. Shallow dialogue, very little ACTUAL worldbuilding, and a plot that’s wispy thin. Still gave it 3 stars for nostalgia though. I’m not completely reconciled with its letdown yet. Sigh...Do I finish the series?
Goodbye, Younger Me. Let this one fly, baby.
