This was over way too soon!
The author really got the essence of ordinary people who 'don't belong' and are struggling to adapt to society rules. The main character is obviously neurodivergent, but I think this book will resonate with any 20/30-something who feels lost and frustrated in the churn of modern life and all the unattainable, nonsensical expectations. It certainly did for me. I'm curious to read more from this author: there's an undertone of dark comedy here that I really enjoyed, despite the story not being funny to begin with.
Warning: there's a male character who is a textbook incel-hikikomori mash up and every scene involving him was positively infuriating. Which I'm sure was the point, but still worth to mention.
