This is such a fun and sweet summer read! I loved how Sortino includes so many varied experiences, representations, and even ableist irritants into the story, as it all felt like a strong window into reality. Lilah growing into herself and her confidence at Camp Gray Wolf, and seeing that development alongside the community and friendships she grounds herself in there was so heartwarming and validating to read. Also, as someone who loved my summer camp growing up, I always love reading a strong camp story!

At some points, the prose felt more surface level, but I think that’s mostly because I get so immersed I always want more emotional unpacking. Overall, I think this is an amazing YA debut, and I can’t wait to see what stories Anna Sortino will share with us down the road!
