A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R.R. Martin

4.0

As a book on its own, this would only be okay. However, having already read the main ASOIF books and seen GoT, this book is worth a read.
The writing style is still very much Martin's, complete with feasting scenes and awkward descriptions of nude bodies. That said, it has a different, lighter tone than the main ASOIF books that makes the stories more fun to read.
As for the stories, without getting into details, they are great at building the world of ASOIF, especially the class interactions of knights, hedge-knights, and landed lords or royalty.
Finally, the illustrations were great too. Some are rather simple and you can pass over them, others are far more artistic and it takes a moment to fully grasp the artist's intention.
