Hotel Magnifique by Emily J. Taylor
3.0
Zero expectations coming into this book as I was sold on the cover.
At first the mysteriousness of it all really got me invested (even though Jani was super self centred and that’s sucks because she’s the MC). The story then gets a little convoluted and fell flat as it tries to weave a tale a little like The Night Circus but not.
Jani beats all odds and does everything she’s told not to… Bel keeps saving her and fixing things and she has zero growth. And then that slapped on romance…. Why?
A few of the other characters would have been interesting to get to know but we don’t get any of that unfortunately.
I did enjoy the overall story in the end though when Celeste comes in (and basically tells the story that should have been told) but I think the whole story could have been laid out better with the same premise and just all in all written better.
