I reread this book since I haven't since high school, just to see what it was like as an adult. Though I understand the premise of reading it in high school, looking deeply at human nature and the repercussions of it, I think there are probably better books out there to accomplish it.
The character development is slim, the plot is fairly stationary, and the prose is much more wordy than necessary. It actually takes you out of the story, in my opinion.
