A Christmas Carol and Other Christmas Writings by Charles Dickens

4.0

Such a fun classic read during the holiday week! I haven’t read the majority of the collection, and it was fascinating to see themes of wealth & poverty and how it deters from the true meaning of Christmas.

“Though it {Christmas} has never put a scrap of gold or silver in my pocket, I believe that it has done me good, and will do me good, and I say, God bless it!”

“May the bright star that rested above the poor roof, be the star of all the Christian world! A moment’s pause, O Vanishing tree, of which the lower boughs are dark to me as yet, and let me look once more.”

“You shall hold your cherished places in our Christmas hearts, and by our Christmas fires; and in the season of immortal hope, and on the birthday of immortal mercy, we will Shut out nothing!”
