The Brass Check: A Study of American Journalism by Upton Sinclair
challenging
informative
slow-paced
3.5
The interesting fact of reading this book over 100 years after publication, of course, is that while we now live in the information era in which it is significantly easier to be informed and find truthful information than it was a century before, people choose not to seek it, favoring instead the instant gratification of media.
On a lighter note: while I struggled with the second half of this book, which was where the majority of Sinclair's investigation and analysis was, I did find the first half of the book, which was his explanation of his personal experiences with the media, to be deeply funny.
