Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut

3.0

An anti-war book, not in a moral or social/social Justice sense, but rather based on internalized trauma. Seems like less of a commentary on war and it’s ethics and more of a PTSD book which made its plot a bit boring at times. I think the motif of the planet made up in Billy’s head (Tralfamadore?) was meant to make a point of humanity and free will and what it really MEANS to have free will (or are we really free if we only live in accordance to our belief of possession of free will)? But I am unsure. Lots of loopholes in this book. Also parts didn’t make sense like the part about salmon eggs getting in someone’s cleavage but maybe I’m misunderstanding. Overall was more about the mind of a person who experienced WWII firsthand (specifically the bombing of Dresden) rather than an anti war book
