The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath by H.P. Lovecraft, I.N.J. Culbard
5.0
First off lets be clear this is "advanced Lovecraft", I would never recommend someone new to the author read this one first or even early on in their journey of reading his fiction, and I get why this story seems to be loved or hated by fans of his work, but once you have a grasp on his stories and style, this is a real romp of a story from him that becomes much better once you have read his earlier dream cycle stories!
Sure Lovecraft really stuffs pretty much everything into this one short novella and not all of it works but it also is Lovecraft at his most fun, imaginative, and dreamlike! Its like Lovecraft's "wizard of oz" meets "john carter of mars" and when its at its best it truly soars to the stars and beyond!
This also could be HP Lovecraft's equivalent to JRR Tolkien's "The Silmarillion" only much shorter but still packed to the gills with content to be enjoyed if you are up for a challenge!
