Toll the Hounds by Steven Erikson

5.0

I couldn't remember much about my first read of TtH, and wasn't even sure I liked it. Upon re-reading, I loved it. Some readers complain about the pacing, but I thought it flew by. Erikson's characters are always philosophizing, and I found these ruminations much more palatable than those of, say, the Mhybe. I always enjoy Daruhjistan as a setting, and was glad to spend some time at bars, estates and alleyways rather than battlefields. The ending is as dramatic as any he's ever written, and it's pretty sad, but the saddest thing of all is that there is no spin-off with Raest and Tufty.
