I liked this one more than the first book in the series.
I think the fast pacing really starts to shine more here since the whole plot is very engaging although the actual plot twists didn't land very hard or were forseeable. But otherwise it's just constantly moving and kind of keeps you glued to the page. I feel like the fast pacing becomes a big disadvantage in terms of emotional impact though.
I liked that we got a lot more exploration of the magic system and lore and just general world building. Which was one of the weakest parts in the first book.
I don't feel any strong attachment to any of the characters. They're fine but nothing more. If I had to pick one as most interesting it has to be Laurel.
Overall I feel that this is just a fun "Sanderson Light" type of story and that is totally fine with me.
