The Gene: An Intimate History by Siddhartha Mukherjee

3.0

There is an excellent Ken Burns film that is based on this book. It really goes into the history of the discovery of genes to the present day, including the implications of new technology such as gene editing and gene therapy. Some of it is pretty technical and detailed but you can get a lot out of it and a real sense of the complexity within us. It also really shows how science builds on itself, one discovery leading to another and the interdependence in the research that happens.
